The Department of Hindi was established in 1972 with a focus on the study and promotion of the Hindi language, literature, and culture. The Department engages in research across various areas, including literature, folklore, media, and digital humanities and has been exploring interdisciplinary approaches that combines literary, philosophical, and aesthetic traditions into the research. The Department of Hindi regularly organises various lectures, seminars, conferences and workshops. Our goal is to foster an environment that encourages critical analysis, research and the generation of novel ideas.

The Department of Hindi is committed to develop a vibrant academic and research centre oriented towards creative and rational thinking, interdisciplinary approach, high moral values and composite culture with reference to Hindi language and Literature.
- The mission of the Department of Hindi is to establish a milieu of cultural harmony along with a focus on job-oriented learning. We are also planning to cooperate with overseas institutions to facilitate the sharing of teaching, research, and translation assets.
